Accessibility is a critical component of creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all music lovers. By providing accommodations for music lovers with disabilities, we can ensure that everyone has equal access to the festivities, regardless of their abilities. We are committed to working with you to provide the necessary support so that you can fully enjoy the music, connect with fellow attendees, and create lasting memories. Below are a few frequently asked questions, along with additional information, to assist you in getting to the festival and having an enjoyable experience. 

Where is ADA parking located? 

• The VCU West Cary Street Parking Deck (1201 W. Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23220) is the RJMF-designated ADA-compliant parking location. Parking for the day is free. The parking deck will be open at 10:30 AM on both festival days.  

Now that I’ve parked, how do I get to the festival entrance? 

• After parking in the VCU West Cary Street Parking Deck, look for a GRTC representative stationed outside the deck. The representative will be wearing a GRTC collared shirt and can direct you to one of two shuttle options: 

• Standard festival shuttle: Fully wheelchair accessible GRTC buses can kneel and deploy ramps for accessible boarding. These shuttles will drop you off at the Lower Hampton Street Entrance, the festival’s main entrance. 

• ADA shuttle van: This van includes a wheelchair lift and will drop you off at the Upper Hampton Street Entrance. This smaller entrance is available to ADA shuttle van passengers and may provide easier access because it has less foot traffic. 

How do I purchase tickets? 

• Tickets can be purchased online at any time at richmondjazzandmusicfestival.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the main festival entrance (Lower Hampton Street Entrance) if you’d like ticket purchase assistance.  

How do I enter the festival? 

• Patrons with mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) are encouraged to enter the festival at the Upper Hampton Street Entrance. The Upper Hampton Street Entrance allows easier entry due to less foot traffic. 

• If you have mobility limitations, you and your party, with your tickets, may enter the Upper Hampton Street Entrance.  

Are the festival grounds accessible? 

• The festival grounds include paved pathways that support access throughout the event. Guests may enjoy the festival from any publicly available viewing area that meets their needs. Festival staff will be available to provide assistance and help guests identify a comfortable location when possible. 

How do I leave the festival? 

• The ADA Shuttle Van will be transporting patrons from the festival back to the VCU West Cary Street Deck. At the Upper Hampton Street Entrance, simply request an ADA Shuttle Van from Security or a GRTC representative. 

Where are ADA-accessible restrooms located? 

• ADA-accessible portable restrooms are available at every restroom station. These units are larger and positioned at ground level for easier access. 

Services for Patrons with Mobility Devices 

• The Richmond Jazz and Music Festival is an outdoor festival. The grounds are ADA-accessible with paved pathways to facilitate wheelchair passage. 

• Wheelchairs and medical scooters are permitted. Please keep in mind that the festival does not provide personal care or push services. Please bring an attendant if needed. 

• We try our best to provide golf cart assistance to festival patrons, but it is not guaranteed that all patrons will have access. 

• There is no repair or charging station at the festival. Please keep this in mind and come prepared. 

Will First Aid Services be available? 

• We will have EMT staff based at our First Aid location that will be noted on the event map. These medical professionals can help you with your medical needs at this location.
