Billy Williams

Billy Williams is a drummer, educator, and composer from Virginia Beach, Virginia. He began playing drums at the age of ten at Brotherly Love Church of God in Christ in Norfolk, Virginia, under the guidance of his great-grandfather, Pastor Wilbert R. Miller. A graduate of the Governor’s School for the Arts and Virginia Commonwealth University, Billy has built an international career as a performer, recording artist, and educator.

Throughout his career, Billy has appeared on more than 50 recordings and has performed alongside many of today’s most respected musicians, including Larry Willis, Terell Stafford, Cyrus Chestnut, Steve Davis, Warren Wolf, Justin Kauflin, Delfeayo Marsalis, Jason Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Tim Warfield, Benny Golson, and Raul Midón. As a bandleader, he independently released his debut EP, .beedubyah, available on all major digital streaming and download platforms.

Billy has performed at many of the world’s premier jazz venues and festivals, including the Village Vanguard and Blue Note New York in New York City; New Morning in Paris, France; Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, England; Bimhuis in Amsterdam, Netherlands; Blue Note Milano in Milan, Italy; Blue Note Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan; Blue Note Beijing in Beijing, China; Umbria Jazz in Perugia, Italy; the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland; Porgy & Bess in Vienna, Austria; Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha in Doha, Qatar; and the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia.
