Free Nationals
Free Nationals are a Los Angeles-based band known for blending R&B, funk, and soul, and for being Anderson Paak's longtime backing band. Formed around 2010, the group includes José Ríos, Ron "T.Nava" Avant, Kelsey Gonzalez, and Callum Connor. They gained recognition after performing in Paak's viral 2016 NPR Tiny Desk Concert and went on to release their self-titled debut album in 2019, featuring artists like Mac Miller, Kali Uchis, Syd, and T.l., earning a Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album. Influenced by legends like Stevie Wonder and Parliament-Funkadelic, they fuse retro grooves with modern production, establishing themselves as talented funk revivalists with both studio chops and energetic live performances.
